Literature Text

I have seen you with your glasses off,
Your face laid bare
As you sleep peacefully beside me.
That, to me, is love in its purest form.
Figured I'd get one last poem in while 2012 is still 2012. =P

This poem just goes to show that beauty and truth do not always need a full paragraph to get across; sometimes, just a few lines will do. The glasses sort of represent a shield, a face "you" puts on for the world. That "me" sees "your face laid bare" suggests exposure, vulnerability, and genuineness (not sure if that's a word, but let's go with it). That "you sleep peacefully beside me" suggests closeness, trust, and deriving comfort from each other's presence. To call this "love in its purest form"... I agree. To make yourself vulnerable, to trust someone enough that you would sleep by them, and enjoy being with them... I really think that's love.

On a side note, reading this sweet little morsel brightened up my day a touch. Thanks for writing!
